Palo Alto, United States, October 10, 2026 -- Luxury Kitchens After Dark: 6 Cabinet Brands to Consider for a Bay Area Remodel in 2026

Integrated cabinet lighting places light within the kitchen's built-in furniture: beneath wall units, inside display cabinets, along recessed profiles and within drawers. For Bay Area homeowners comparing luxury kitchen cabinet brands in 2026, Ronbow offers a locally manufactured option with documented lighting applications across several cabinet locations. SieMatic, LEICHT, Henrybuilt, Poggenpohl and Poliform provide five additional directions to explore, each with a specific approach to incorporating light into cabinetry.

This Ronbow guide considers published product features rather than assigning lighting performance scores. The selection includes custom cabinetry and configurable kitchen systems. Product literature establishes a starting point; the configuration, controls and availability for a Bay Area project should be confirmed with the provider.

What changes when daylight fades

At night, the kitchen's illuminated surfaces become more prominent. A line beneath a wall cabinet can draw attention to the backsplash. Light inside a glass cabinet brings its contents into view. A lit handle channel outlines the furniture itself. These effects serve different purposes, so a useful cabinet proposal should explain where the light goes and what it is intended to illuminate.

For a premium renovation, the design question is how these layers work together. A glowing cabinet edge does not establish that a preparation surface is adequately lit. Equally, a brightly illuminated worktop does not determine how the kitchen will look from the dining table. The six brands below offer specific details around which to develop that conversation.

Six cabinet brands with distinct lighting details

1 Ronbow for lighting integrated across the cabinet design

Ronbow's California-made custom cabinetry supports integrated LED lighting alongside features such as floating shelves and glass doors. Its kitchen project gallery includes examples of under-cabinet lighting and LED lighting inside cabinets.

That range gives a designer several locations to work with. For a proposed kitchen, under-cabinet lighting could address the counter area, illuminated shelving could define a display, and a toe-kick line could outline the base of the cabinetry. Those are design possibilities to develop around the room, with the light output and viewing angles assessed for the selected configuration.

Homeowners should confirm the selected fittings and control options for each lighting location in their order.

Ronbow's custom cabinetry product page presents integrated LED lighting, floating shelves and handleless cabinet options, including GOLA cabinetry. These features provide a starting point for discussing how lighting can work with the cabinet design and which configurations suit the project.

For a Bay Area homeowner, Ronbow's appeal here is the opportunity to develop the illuminated areas as part of a custom cabinet composition. A display section, shelf underside and GOLA detail can each be considered within the design brief. The proposal should identify the chosen locations and controls; a system voltage alone does not establish brightness, color quality or dimming capability.

2 SieMatic for light within the recessed grip

SieMatic's SLX places LED strips within the recessed grip channel. The brand's press materials describe adjustable lighting that emphasizes the relationship between the cabinet fronts and countertop. The integrated strips are also identified in the Red Dot description of SLX.

This is a direction for homeowners who want the cabinet's horizontal lines to remain visible after daylight fades. The illuminated channel becomes part of the elevation. In a proposed island or cabinet run, the useful design exercise is to view that line from across the room and from a seated position, alongside the separate lighting intended for food preparation.

3 LEICHT for illuminated display cabinetry and shelving

LEICHT's official Living collection describes VERO glass display cabinets with aluminum frames and lighting. The same collection identifies backlighting as a defining feature of the ICONIC shelving system. These are concrete options for introducing illuminated furniture into the kitchen's broader composition.

For a kitchen visible from a dining or living area, the display elements offer a way to consider what remains visually present in the evening. A glass cabinet and a backlit shelf create different focal points. The choice should follow the objects to be displayed and the surrounding room, with the intended kitchen configuration confirmed through the project supplier.

4 Henrybuilt for recessed light beneath wall elements

Henrybuilt's Wall Elements description specifies concealed wiring and LED lighting recessed into the underside of wall units and shelf-bank shelves. Its wall elements can combine open and enclosed sections, including sliding glass panels.

The relevant distinction is the physical integration of the light source into the furniture. For homeowners considering a long shelf or wall cabinet above a counter, this creates a specific detail to examine: the relationship between the shelf edge, the recessed source and the surface below. A section drawing or working display can make that relationship clearer than a general room photograph.

5 Poggenpohl for illuminated glass showcases

Poggenpohl's Solitaire collection includes the Showcase series, which places objects behind glass doors with subdued LED illumination. The brand describes different glass treatments and a reflective back wall, giving the cabinet a presentation role within the room.

This direction is relevant when a luxury kitchen includes a dedicated display element. The glass, back panel and light all contribute to what is visible after dark. The specific composition deserves attention: a cabinet displaying glassware will present a different visual effect from one holding ceramics. The Showcase feature should be evaluated as a display choice, separately from the lighting needed at the cooking and preparation areas.

6 Poliform for illumination inside pull-out storage

Poliform's Alea product page documents an internal LED system within a pull-out storage configuration. The example combines a brown-painted inner drawer with walnut canaletto and moka anodized aluminum interior fittings.

Here, the light is directed toward the inside of the furniture. That makes Alea a relevant reference for buyers considering illuminated cabinet interiors alongside a restrained exterior. The practical discussion concerns which drawers or pull-outs can receive the system and how it operates in the specified arrangement. The published example should not be read as confirmation that every Alea unit includes lighting.

Develop an evening view of the proposed kitchen

The next step is to ask for an evening lighting view that distinguishes the preparation area, the cabinet interiors and the visible furniture outlines. It should show which lights operate together and which can be controlled separately. Where dimming is proposed, identify the compatible equipment rather than assuming every LED configuration supports it.

For Ronbow, the starting point can be a cabinet elevation showing the intended shelf, display, interior and GOLA lighting locations. Include the selected finish samples in that review so the discussion addresses the actual composition. This gives the lighting decisions a place in the cabinet design before the room is built.

Kids Learning Ville expands with new Kids Play Ville program

Good news for parents who love the play-based learning approach of Kids Learning Ville (KLV): Children can now experience it beyond the home.  Introducing Kids Play Ville, a new community group class program by Kids Learning Ville, held at Little Chinatown in Lucky Chinatown Mall.  For parents who want their children to experience KLV’s hands-on, play-based learning while interacting with other children, the program offers an opportunity to learn, play and grow together.  Kids Play Ville brings the same KLV curriculum and learning approach into a fun, social and interactive setting. Instead of participating in one-on-one sessions at home, children can join group activities where they can explore, move, create, discover and learn together.  The program takes place in a large indoor playground, giving children space to learn through movement and play.  At Kids Play Ville, learning goes beyond sitting down and completing activities. Children can participate in storytelling, counting games, sensory exploration, creative projects, music and movement, hands-on challenges and other activities designed to support early learning and development.  Group classes also give children opportunities to interact with their peers. Through everyday activities, they can practice sharing, taking turns, listening to others, following directions, communicating their ideas and participating in group tasks while building confidence and social skills.  Most importantly, the learning remains intentional.  Kids Play Ville uses the same curriculum as Kids Learning Ville, with activities designed to support children’s early literacy, numeracy, discovery, creativity, movement, independence and overall development.  The difference is that children now get to experience these activities alongside their peers.  Kids Play Ville is an eight-session community group class program that gives children multiple opportunities to become comfortable in a group setting, participate in different activities and develop skills over time.  The full eight-session program is available for P5,200.  For families looking for playgroup classes in Manila, fun activities for children or new opportunities for their little ones to learn and socialize, Kids Play Ville combines learning and play in one experience.  The KLV experience can now be enjoyed in person, with more space to play, explore and learn alongside other children.  Families can join Kids Play Ville at Little Chinatown, Lucky Chinatown Mall, and give their children an opportunity to learn, play, explore and grow with KLV.

Digital portal aims to upgrade live-selling experience

Digital portal aims to upgrade live-selling experience

Jhaena Jewels is taking its six-year live-selling journey into the digital space with a new portal designed to connect live shopping, online transactions, order tracking and customer support in one platform. The new digital home allows customers to register for personal accounts where they can view their claims, orders, invoices, payments and delivery information in one place. Customers can also browse available jewelry through the online shop and continue to discover and claim pieces during live-selling sessions. Founder and CEO Haena Sia-Foo said the portal is designed to complement, rather than replace, the live-selling experience that helped build the brand’s community. “When we started Jhaena Jewels six years ago, live selling was one of the important parts of our journey. I love the connection with our clients and the community that we built together for the past six years,” Sia-Foo said during the launch. The portal addresses some of the manual processes associated with live selling, including sending screenshots, messaging administrators to confirm item availability and following up on payments. Jhaena Jewels OIC Arlene Natividad said the platform was developed as the company looked for ways to make transactions easier without losing the personal interaction customers have come to expect from the brand. “As the community grew, we also started asking ourselves, how can we make the experience easier, clearer and more connected for our customers without taking away the live experience that they already love?” Natividad said. Through the portal, customers can claim an available piece, proceed to checkout and receive an automatically generated invoice. They can also upload proof of payment directly to their account, while payment status and delivery information can be tracked through the system. “Instead of looking for screenshots, going back through messages or asking where your transaction is, we are giving you a more organized way,” Natividad said. The system also connects purchases made through live selling and the online shop, allowing customers to review their transactions and invoices in one purchase history. “Less guessing, more transparency. We want our customers to feel more informed and more confident about their transactions,” Natividad said. The platform is also designed for customers who miss live sessions. Available pieces featured during a broadcast can still be browsed through the portal after the live session, giving customers another way to see and purchase items. Sia-Foo emphasized that the familiar “mine” culture of live selling remains part of the experience, although it now takes on a digital form. “On the website, ‘mine’ becomes a claim. You just have to tap the claim there for it to go to our portal or checkout,” Sia-Foo said. Once a customer claims an item, the transaction moves through the cart, checkout, invoicing, payment and delivery stages within the system. Sia-Foo said the company will continue using social media for live selling with broadcasts viewable on the website. “Are we going to replace live selling? The answer, of course, is no. We’re actually upgrading it,” she said. The portal forms part of the brand’s broader sixth-year theme, “Access is the New Luxury.” Sia-Foo said the company’s goal is to make access to jewelry, information, sourcing networks and opportunities more attainable for its customers and partners. “Luxury is not just about owning something. Luxury is about access to quality, and to the better value of something that we know will create a memory for us forever,” she said. Sia-Foo said the company spent years developing relationships with manufacturers, artisans, diamond cutters and polishers in jewelry markets around the world, including India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan and Italy. The company is also looking to expand its ecosystem to include affiliates, live sellers, entrepreneurs, resellers and other business partners. “We spent six years building a foundation. Now, we have the technology and infrastructure to open it to more people,” she said. For Sia-Foo, the portal is the latest step in a journey that began with live selling and limited resources. “I started with just one phone, one sticky note, a phone stand and my ball pen. But I had something much bigger than that. I had a dream,” she said. “Real luxury today isn’t only about owning something beautiful. It’s having access to something that was once beyond our reach,” she finally added.

Store-in-store targets to revive Marikina shoes one step at a time

Store-in-store targets to revive Marikina shoes one step at a time

Gen X who grew up wearing school shoes made in Marikina will remember how sturdy and seemingly indestructible they were despite the paces students put them through daily. For decades, Marikina Shoe Expo located in Cubao was the place their parents took them for a new pair at the start of the school year. That space has since been converted into a warren of small stores, restaurants and bars collectively known as Cubao Expo (Cubao X). On Sept. 24, a new venue inside Spatio at Opus Mall was launched with the intention of reintroducing shoppers to Marikina-made footwear. Shoe Avenue is a partnership of Spatio with Zapateria and features a curated mix of independent Filipino footwear brands. “We wanted to revive the glory days of Marikina’s shoe industry. We’re working closely with Unyx Sta. Ana of Zapateria on the brands to be featured at Shoe Avenue,” Martin de Leon, deputy general manager of Spatio told The Manila Times. At the moment, Shoe Avenue occupies a sizable corner of the open-floor setup at Spatio. Unlike other department stores, Spatio features local independent brands ranging from bags and apparel to footwear and novelty items. De Leon said that as a fifth-generation member of Zapateria, Sta. Ana already had an idea which Marikina-made footwear brands to tap and could deliver. “I worked with her on the mix but she had a hand in coming up with the best assortment for the launch. There were several things to consider such as the capacity of a brand to produce since some of them are relatively small,” de Leon said. The eight brands now available in store range from tiny Velcro sneakers for pint-sized clients from Wumwum to easy-to-slip-on flats for women from Posh Pocket and formal men’s shoes from Bucroe. Aside from Zapateria which anchors the space, the other brands include Alunsinag, Hayo, Bida Loca and Charis. “Shoe Avenue is our way of honoring what came before us, drawing inspiration from what continues to be made today, and envisioning what Philippine footwear can still become,” Sta. Ana said in a statement. “Together with Spatio, we’re creating a platform where these stories can be experienced by more people.” Jelly for your feet Fun footwear brand Melissa launched two collections of colorful footwear including a new jelly set that pays tribute to the brand’s legacy as the jelly shoe pioneer, and its fall-winter 2026 collection set, Delirium. Since launching its Aranha sandal in 1979, Melissa has transformed the classic fisherman’s sandal into a favorite fashion staple. The new Jelly Collection reworks this legacy with contemporary silhouettes. Each piece is crafted using the brand’s proprietary Melflex, a flexible cruelty-free and 100 percent material. The year-end collection Delirium, meanwhile, is an attempt to push the envelope on where the brand’s signature jelly material can go next. Among the standout styles are the Melissa Aranha 79 II, a revival of one of the brand’s most beloved classics. Other styles include slides, Mary Janes and T-strap sandals now available in store and online.
